If he’s interested in guitars, have them put various models and makes of them, such as the dreadnought acoustic guitar.

Encourage them to write about what they are gluing into their books. If they can’t write, do it for them. This is the way that their memories will live on and they’ll have a better understanding of who they were at that given time.

Again, there are many things besides photographs that can be glued into the albums. For example, the candle from a birthday party, an invitation, or what ever. When these items are glued in and personal comments are written next to them, these books become even more special.

A Beginner’s Guide To Scrapbooking

March 10th, 2010

Scrapbooking is a well-liked hobby nowadays for many reasons. It preserves and displays every significant moment in your family’s life. It allows you to put your creativity to use, as what you can do on every page is limited only by your imagination. It provides a constructive way to pass the time. And doing it with your kids is a great way to bond with them.

There exists no rule on how best to create your scrapbook album. Everything depends on your taste and inventiveness. But if you’re a novice on the craft, there’s no need to be intimidated by it. The internet provides a great resource on how to do scrapbooking, especially for beginners.

Collating the materials you will need should not be a concern. Since it’s really popular, there are now specialty shops which cater exclusively to scrapbookers. Nevertheless, scrapbooking tools, materials and embellishments may be purchased at regular arts and crafts shops. You may also find cutters, craft knives, adhesives and others at school or office supplies shops.

When it comes to embellishments, you can always go for simple or intricate ones. As a beginner, you may always purchase ready-to-use decorations, such as stickers, stamps, cardboard cutouts and borders. It’s not unlikely for those who are hardcore scrapbookers to even use die-cutting tools, stencils and others.

Make the project extra special by including photos that are truly priceless. How about that snapshot of your husband’s huge smile after receiving his dream digital sport watch for a gift on his birthday? Or how about that snapshot of your son’s excited look on his face on his first trick or treating night? It may be a photo of any event, as long as it has that certain uniqueness to it.

And what you put on your scrapbook pages doesn’t have to be limited to photographs. It can be a bundle of hair tied with a lace ribbon, from your daughter’s first haircut. Or a flat memento bought during your first tropical beach getaway with your family. You may even include greeting cards you get from your husband on your wedding anniversaries. Anything that reminds you of a memorable moment can grace the pages.

Using embellishments is important to complete the mood every page is trying to impart. For example, they will enhance the festive mood of a page containing your daughter’s birthday party. You may add stickers or cutouts of multicolored balloons, stars, confetti coils and others. You may even include a party hat or invitation to go with her birthday celebration’s snapshots.

Scrapbooking is recommended for those who like to preserve memories and at the same time put their creativity to use. When friends come over for dinner, you can entertain them with family photos. Plus, your crafts will make for interesting conversation pieces.

Organize Your Family Photographs Through Scrapbooking

March 4th, 2010

If you are looking for ways to preserve your family pictures, try scrapbooking. Using digital photos makes the job easier than ever. The digital shots can be scaled to fit perfectly on your page every time. You will be able to preserve all those memories for many generations.

There are many things that you can include in your scrapbooks as well as many ways to organize your books. One favorite way is to create mini scrapbooks that present a special occasion in the life of a family.

One of the smaller scrapbooks could include the highlights of a Disney vacation. Look for the Disney scrapbook while shopping in the parks. They can be found in many of the larger stores along with special papers, stickers and punches that can only be bought in the parks. If you missed your chance to buy the book in the park, then try checking online at Disney to see if they can be ordered there.

Perhaps you will choose another way to organize by featuring one person in each book. You could show a picture of your son in his black helmet the first day of football season. Include his other sporting events along with a couple of graduation shots. Once from kindergarten and one from college can show quite a contrast. This is an excellent way to display the growing up years.

Perhaps you will choose to organize your scrapbooks over certain time periods. You may choose to do one per year. Although the book may contain pictures of many events and subjects during the year, it is still manageable because it only contains information for the year.

To keep the pages of your book interesting, you will want to pick up some tools along the way. Punches and die cutters make perfect shapes every time. Sticker makers let you position and remove items to get the pages just right. You can remove the items without leaving adhesive on the paper you have chosen for the background. These and other scrapbooking tools help you preserve interest.

Remember that all the paper, adhesive and inks you use in scrapbooking will need to be acid free to preserve your creation for many years to come. If you choose the wrong materials, you may see your photos start to fade and fall apart over time. Acid free papers do not break down or destroy the photos.

When you scrapbook, you preserve memories that are not just for yourself. Your memories will be handed down for many generations to come.
