Treatment For Panic Attacks Agoraphobia.

Treating Panic Attacks with Agoraphobia.

Panic attacks agoraphobia is still a subject of scientific research; hopefully, they’ll discover better ways for treatment. As new information comes to light, the treatment and management of this complication changes. At the moment, a combination of regular therapy sessions and anti-anxiety medications is the best treatment available.

Agoraphobic patients may be prescribed fast-acting benzodiazepines such as Ativan, Librium and Valium. Because they’re fast-acting, these drugs provide instant relief from physical symptoms experienced during a panic attack. Avoid serious addiction and serious withdrawal symptoms; take benzodiazepines only if your treatment is properly supervised by a doctor.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is part of recommended treatment options for agoraphobia. As the most successful treatment approach thus far, CBT examines agoraphia as the result of your thought processes. It’s simple inductive logic: how you think determines how you feel and how you feel determines how you behave.

Doctors work on case-to-case basis and may recommend alterhative medications or treatments to help you with your battle against panic attacks. It would all be toward the same goal – help you manage physical symptoms and acquire better response mechanisms to your triggers. Keep in mind three things – time, consistency and commitment; these are critical to successful treatment of panic attacks with agoraphobia.
