Modern life is stressful for many people Stress is a constant in life itself Few folks nowadays avoid some kind of stress in their daily lives.

The following stress management techniques have helped several folks keep stress to a minimum in their daily lives:

•  Clarify your priorities. Actually write out your personal priorities Create a ranked list of your personal priorities, for example, 1) Family, 2) Time for creative work, and 3) Job responsibilities.  Making selections regarding what to try to to next is less complicated when you’ve got a physical list of what really matters

• Say no more often Lots of individuals will’t say no Apologizing gives the false impression that you have done one thing wrong by saying no No one has a right to your time   All you have got to say is no Excuses aren’t necessary.

• Learn thought stopping.  Negative thoughts can become obsessive. Learn to monitor your internal dialogue.  When a negative thought appears, replace it immediately with a positive thought.

• Learn deep breathing Stress and deep breathing will’t happen at the same time After you breathe deeply, calm feelings follow. Puff your belly out on the in breath and suck it in on the out breath Breathing shallowly high up in the chest really triggers anxiety

• Daily exercise helps.  Significant results can be achieved with as little as 30 minutes of exercise every day.  Exercise is good for your health and good for your heart Exercise releases natural calming agents called endorphins into your bloodstream Endorphins regulate mood naturally

• Have a good support system Rates of heart disease, addiction, and mental illness decrease with good social support A proper support group may be a good resource too.

• Reach out for help Reach out when necessary Try reaching out to mental health professionals, your pastor, a friend, or a family physician Asking for an unbiased opinion will help a lot

Everyone has problems sometimes Reaching out is not an indication of weakness Paying it forward is often a good practice. Simply asking for help will relieve stress Isolation is toxic, so make reaching out a habit

Stress management is an ongoing responsibility   No magic bullet will reduce stress in each circumstance. Good stress management requires a combination of flexibility and determination.
